Our Purpose
Vision Statement:
Shiloh Baptist Church is committed to building God’s Village, spiritually in the hearts and minds of men women and children and physically, in the revitalization of the surrounding Shaw community.
mission statement:
The mission of Shiloh Baptist Church is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28). We do this by preaching Jesus Christ unashamedly, worshiping celebratively, teaching rigorously, promoting justice passionately, equally empowering women and men in all aspects of church leadership, ministering to the needy, the oppressed the physically challenged and people of all ages and nationalities, inclusively.
Core Values:
We will build a village that represents God’s kingdom through our ministries, which incorporate the five core purposes of the church. Magnifying and glorifying God fulfills our first core purpose to love God with all our hearts, minds and souls. We express that love through our Worship Ministry.
Our second purpose - to love our neighbors as ourselves – is fulfilled through our Social Justice and Community Outreach Ministry. Through our outreach, we express to the world that we are vitally concerned and connected with all of God’s creation.
Our third purpose is to baptize believers in the name of Jesus the Christ and introduce them to a new value system. We do this through the Stewardship Ministry; stewardship of time, talents, and resources; stewardship of creation, and stewardship of relationships.
Our fourth purpose is to care for the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of our members. The Congregational Care Ministry enhances the mental, social, physical, and spiritual wellbeing of individuals of all ages within Shiloh Church.
The Youth Ministry shares this purpose by providing for the spirituality of our young people with the additional tasks of enhancing their spiritual growth and broadening their knowledge of God.
The Finance and Economic Development Ministry provides for the economic empowerment of individual Shiloh members, and the Church as a whole.
Our fifth purpose is taken from the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20 which tells us to Go and make disciples … and spread the Good News about a loving God to every corner of the world. Our Communication Ministryis responsible for disseminating information about Shiloh programs to internal and external audiences.
The Great Commission tells us to teach all nations, which we accomplish through our Christian Education Ministry, providing training and instruction in the ways that God commands.
