BIO - GEORGE MENSAH, SR.
The Reverend George E. Mensah Sr., serves as the Executive Minister of the Shiloh Baptist Church, of Washington, District of Columbia. A native of the Republic of Liberia, the Reverend Mensah graduated from the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary in 1987. He received the Master of Divinity degree in 1992 from Vanderbilt University Divinity School in Nashville Tennessee. The Reverend Mensah was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1998, by the Pleasant Green Baptist Church of Nashville, TN. The Reverend Mensah’s services in ministry include the Temple Church of Nashville, TN., a four thousand member congregation, where he diligently served as the Assistant Pastor for Nurture. His responsibilities as a Servant Leader included serving the Educational, Youth, and Counseling Ministries of the Church.
He has served as the Traveling Secretary for the Liberia Baptist Sunday School Convention, where he coordinated the convention’s educational program. In addition, he served ten years in various outreach programs, training counselors, and organizing AIDS education and youth employment programs. He is a former trainer and facilitator for the National Coalition Building Institute and the Southeastern Network of Service Providers. He is a member of the Baptist World Alliance Youth Ministry and serves on the International Planning Committee of the Baptist World Alliance Youth Conference. He also is a member of the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention.

He is Founder and President of the Psalms Ministries Consulting Initiative, a Ministry and Worship Development Service designed to provide ministries with the strategies, skills, and competencies to actualize their programmatic goals. In this capacity, he provides consulting services to senior ministers, pastors, and ministers of music across the country, and in the Bahamas.
Dr. Tyler served as Director of Music Ministries at the illustrious Metropolitan Baptist Church of Washington, DC for 26 years, where he developed and managed an extensive music program that consisted of seven choirs containing over 500 voices, an orchestra and several staff musicians that included noted artists such as Richard Smallwood, Evelyn Simpson-Curenton, the Reverend Nolan Williams, Carlton Burgess, and David Warr. During this time, he also served as Coordinator and Convener of the Howard University School of Divinity’s Conference on Music in the Black Church in the New Millennium; Clinician for the Hampton Ministers’ and Choral Directors’ Conference; Clinician for the Urban Ministries Conference of Chicago; and Artistic Developer for the 140th Anniversary Observance of Shaw University. He has also served as Artistic Director of the 300-voice internationally renowned Washington Performing Arts Children of the Gospel Choir; Director of the 1993 NAACP National Convention Choir; and Guest Conductor of the Prince George’s County Maryland High School Honors Chorus from 1998-2003.
In June 2007, Dr. Tyler directed the Shiloh Baptist Church Senior and Gospel Choirs in special music for the American Baptist Churches, USA Biennial/Centennial Celebration (Washington, DC). In December 2007, his artistry and creativity inspired him to direct the Senior Choir in a rendition of Händel’s Messiah that included period costuming, role-playing and liturgical dancing by children and youths, dramatic sign language and enhanced staging. In July 2008, Mr. Tyler directed three performances of the Senior and Gospel Choirs at Bloomsbury Baptist Church, Southwark Cathedral and Trinity Baptist Church in London, England.
Presently, Dr. Tyler serves as Consultant and Special Assistant for Worship and Music to the Senior Minister of the historic Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, DC. In this capacity, he guides the total music program and is Director of the Senior and Gospel Choirs. He is a graduate of Bridgewater College (Bridgewater, VA), American University (Washington, DC) and the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies (Orange Park, FL), where he received his Master of Ministry and Ph.D. in Worship Studies

Blount is an attorney and works as an impartial hearing officer for the Office of State Superintendent of the District of Columbia Public Schools.
Rev. Blount received her undergraduate education at Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC, where she majored in English, with a concentration in news media. She went on to receive her law degree from Howard University School of Law, and her Masters of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary. She has received numerous academic awards and recognitions.
Rev. Blount has a passion for sound biblical teaching, ministry to women and families, and speaking out on behalf of vulnerable populations. In addition to preaching and teaching, she has also been blessed to do public policy advocacy on behalf of Christian communities in the halls of Congress, and in the White House.

He is also the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Religious Affairs in the Executive Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser and is considered the chief advocate and voice of the faith community in the District of Columbia.
Rev. Bowen is a graduate of Morehouse College, where he was a Ford Foundation Scholar, received his ministerial and theological training from The Divinity School at the University of Chicago. He was licensed to preach the Gospel at his home church, Bethany Baptist Church of Elyria, Ohio.
Minister Bowen has been a contributing panelist for the Washington Post’s On Faith/Local Section and a contributor to the Huffington Post’s Black Voices. He has served as the Religion Editor for the Washington Informer newspaper and was once a National Correspondent for PoliticallyBlack.Com where he had the pleasure to interview then Illinois State Senator Barack Obama.
Minister Bowen is a founding member of the Jamestown Project, an action-oriented think tank, and a member of the African American Ministers Leadership Council of People for the American Way. He also has served on the Board of Trustees for the Lorain County (Ohio) Urban League, the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and the Centennial Celebration Task Force for the American Baptist Churches, Inc.

BIO - DESIRÉ P. GROGRAN
Rev. Desiré P. Grogan is a vibrant member of the ordained clergy at the historic Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. Rev. Grogan has been a member of Shiloh all of her life and, in 1992, became the first woman to be ordained by the Shiloh congregation since the Church’s inception in 1863. Rev. Grogan ministers as an anointed teacher and preacher of the Word of God and exercises these gifts both within the Shiloh congregation as well as in response to the call to minister in churches across denominational lines.
Rev. Grogan is a native Washingtonian who received her formal education from D.C. Public Schools. She matriculated to the Boston University School of Fine Arts, on full scholarship, where she received the Bachelor of Music degree in 1974. She then matriculated to the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Library and Information Science, where she, again on full scholarship, received the Master of Library Science degree in 1975.
Upon accepting God’s Call, in May 1988, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Rev. Grogan matriculated to and graduated from the Howard University School of Divinity, having earned the Master of Divinity degree (’89-’92). Her seminary education included several awards of distinction: The Ford Foundation Field-Based Fellowship (’90-’91); The Nannie Helen Burroughs Scholar Award (’91-’92); The William O. Carrington Preacher of the Year Award (’91-’92); and The National Dean’s List, 15th Edition (’91-’92). Rev. Grogan was also the first seminary student to receive The Patricia Roberts Harris Public Affairs Fellow from Howard’s School of Communications, under whose auspices she served as a professional intern at the Library of Congress (Summer ’91). Following her seminary education, Rev. Grogan was further distinguished within the Shiloh congregation with the presentation of the Woman of The Year Award in 1993.
In addition to serving as an Associate Minister within the Shiloh congregation, Rev. Grogan is also the Founder of Revelation Ministries, so-named for her passionate and in-depth teaching on the Book of the Revelation. To further her scholarship and her ministry in this area, Rev. Grogan completed a pre-doctoral Master’s degree in Semitics with the Dept. of Semitics and Egyptian Languages in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Catholic University of America in May 2005. She is actively formulating her doctoral program in the area of a Biblical exegetical approach to the study of the Book of the Revelation that is accessible, not just to the scholar, but also to the believer in the pew.

BIO - DEBRA LÓPEZ
The Reverend Debra G. W. López was born in Welch, West Virginia. She completed her early education in the schools of McDowell County. Her maternal grandfather and father were pastors.
She began her early Christian experience at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Kimball, West Virginia and was baptized by her father and pastor. Active in the Flat Top Missionary Baptist Association and the West Virginia Baptist State Convention, she developed in spiritual growth.
Upon graduation from high school, she completed the Gardner School of Business in Silver Spring, Maryland. She later received an A.A. degree from Montgomery College, Takoma Park, Maryland; a B.S and paralegal certificate from the University of Maryland University College, Adelphi, Maryland; and M.Div, from Howard University School of Divinity, with honors. She received the Trustee scholarship two years from Howard and the Earl L. Harrison scholarship from Shiloh Baptist Church.
After serving 28 years of government service, she retired.
During the more than thirty years at Shiloh, she completed teaching training for Church School. As outreach, she provided worship to the Thomas House and the Stoddard Baptist Nursing Home, both of Washington, DC. Also, she conducted a Bible Study at Fairview, a transitional house.
Rev. López was licensed to the gospel ministry in 2002 and ordained in 2003 at Shiloh Baptist Church.
She completed 400 hours of Clinical Pastoral Education at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, DC. In May 2006, she was endorsed as a chaplain by American Baptist Churches, USA. Presently volunteers at Heartland Hospice in Beltsville, Maryland.
In 2003 she was a contributor to The Journey, An Anthology of Inspirational Affirmations, Writings and Prayers edited by Dion L. Davis. Her writing was Created In the Image of God.
Married to Juan E. López, they have one daughter and two grandsons.

BIO - DEBRA LÓPEZ
The Reverend Debra G. W. López was born in Welch, West Virginia. She completed her early education in the schools of McDowell County. Her maternal grandfather and father were pastors.
She began her early Christian experience at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Kimball, West Virginia and was baptized by her father and pastor. Active in the Flat Top Missionary Baptist Association and the West Virginia Baptist State Convention, she developed in spiritual growth.
Upon graduation from high school, she completed the Gardner School of Business in Silver Spring, Maryland. She later received an A.A. degree from Montgomery College, Takoma Park, Maryland; a B.S and paralegal certificate from the University of Maryland University College, Adelphi, Maryland; and M.Div, from Howard University School of Divinity, with honors. She received the Trustee scholarship two years from Howard and the Earl L. Harrison scholarship from Shiloh Baptist Church.
After serving 28 years of government service, she retired.
During the more than thirty years at Shiloh, she completed teaching training for Church School.
